Weston-super-Mare AFC manager Scott Bartlett believes the club’s busy schedule has caught up with them ‘ever so slightly’ after a 3-0 defeat to Worthing on Saturday (November 30).
The Seagulls have played three games in a week, culminating in the defeat at Worthing and speaking to the club’s media after the game, Bartlett said ‘everything that could have gone wrong, has gone wrong'.
“I’m really disappointed with the results…but the very best version of us might not have been good enough against a very good team,” said Bartlett.
“We try not to make any excuses but we are a little bit bare bones.”
Weston do not have a game this weekend, giving the team a 10-day break before they face Hampton & Richmond on Tuesday (December 10).
Bartlett added: “We need a breather, and we did not do enough to stay in the game long enough, that’s the first thing I would say.
“We thought this week might be telling and were really pleased we’ve got a little bit of a break.”
