Four players made their national debuts for St Andrews women as they beat Bristol by 13 shots in the Yetton Plate on Saturday.
Wendy O'Sullivan, Sue Edwards, Angela Merchant and Jenny Webb were all new to this level of bowls but contributed well as depleted Saints notched up a fine victory.
Merchant played in Jean Whittaker's away rink, which went 8-0 up after four of the 21 ends and never relaxed their grip to finish 16 shots up.
A six helped the other away rink, which included Webb, to stay in touch and lose by only three shots.
At home, Edwards, a new bowler this year, helped Becky McMillan's quartet win by 14.
Although Ann Campbell's other home rink, with debutant O'Sullivan at two, lost by 14, they scored ten shots in five ends at a crucial stage of the game.
Saints will play Isle of Wedmore on Saturday for a place in the regional semi-final.
In the national mixed Egham Trophy on Sunday, Saints' winning streak against Clevedon this season ended with a 17-shot defeat.
Despite having beaten their local rivals in both the Top Club and Denny Cup, Saints expected a tough match and it was nip-and-tuck overall until the closing stages.
