St Andrews bowler Sam Stocker has been selected for an England indoor trial.
The 23-year-old will be participating in the under-25 trial at Northampton on Sunday, December 1.
Stocker, who made his England debut in Scotland last year, will be joined by his clubmate Becky McMillan, who is a non-travelling reserve for the England women’s trial on November 30.
McMillan recently finished runner-up in the World Indoor Mixed Pairs Championship.
Both players have been competing in the national indoor individual championships with varying outcomes.
Stocker claimed a win over Clevedon’s Lucas Powell in the under-25 singles before partnering with his dad, Lee, and Craig Walker to secure a 22-4 victory against a Clevedon trio in the men’s triples.
However, Stocker and Walker lost 20-12 in a national pairs match against the Fuidge twins.
McMillan and Tim Wyatt narrowly lost to a Bristol duo in the national open pairs after a tie-break.
Si and Jack Angove, also from Saints, were beaten by Clevedon’s Pip and Stef Branfield in the national family pairs.
Meanwhile, Richard Withers achieved a victory in the national men’s singles against Simon Fuidge.
This weekend, Saints’ men and women are set to participate in the Denny Cup and Yetton Plate respectively, while the mixed team will face Clevedon in the Egham Trophy on Sunday.
In other news, the club bid farewell to indoor member Anthony Page on Saturday night.
Page has returned to the Midlands in an attempt to recover from a serious illness he developed while in South Africa for the World Disability Bowls Championships.
