Weston-super-Mare’s display against Bristol Rovers in the FA Cup just re-enforces what manager Scott Bartlett believed about his team.
Speaking to the club’s media after the game in which the Seagulls were beaten 3-1 in extra time, the manager said Weston did not raise their game and proved what a ‘good bunch’ there is at the Optima.
He said: “I’m nearly always proud of the team, whether we are playing Bristol Rovers or Aveley last week.
“I think we’ve got a good bunch and I know the magic of the FA Cup and the rest of it but I thought we were outstanding today.
“We pushed a good team, with good players, obviously to come away and draw after 90 minutes was very good because it further re-enforces what we think about the group.
“We’ve got some good characters in there, some good pace and some good ability in the team.
“I think we all recognise now that we’ve got a good team here. We pushed them as far as we could and I think we closed the gap of three divisions quite well.”
