Weston RFC Under 11s welcomed newly-formed Burnham-on-Sea Under 11s to the Recreation Ground.

Despite a rocky start, the match showcased skill and determination from both teams.

Burnham-on-Sea began the day with an unfortunate loss of three players.

With only eight remaining, the match was played as an eight-a-side contest.

Weston RFC quickly took the lead, with Freddy-George and Sebastian scoring early tries.

However, Burnham-on-Sea responded with a well-executed try from their speedy winger.

This only motivated Weston RFC further.

Newcomer Alfie, using his Pacific Islands skills, crossed the try line, marking his debut with a successful score.

Rhea then scored a remarkable try, skillfully beating several defenders and outsmarting the last line of defence.

Defensively, Rohan D, Andi, and Katie were exceptional, ensuring that most attempts from Burnham-on-Sea were thwarted.

As half-time approached, Weston RFC added more points to their tally with tries from Alfie and Freddy-George.

Stan's counter-rucking proved problematic for Burnham-on-Sea, making it hard for them to secure clean ball.

In the second half, Weston RFC, with a full squad on the sidelines, resumed play.

Oscar, keen not to be outdone by his first-half teammates, sprinted the full length of the pitch to score a superb solo try.

Despite the setback, Burnham-on-Sea continued to battle hard and were rewarded with two tries—one from a quick tap penalty and another from a sprint under the posts.

Seeing Burnham-on-Sea posing a challenge, Weston RFC began playing with more width.

This strategy paid off as James and Wyatt scored their first tries of the season.

Amelie, fresh from a week off, controlled the game's tempo, setting Laszlo and Barnaby off on impressive runs.

Albie and Rohan S were active throughout, making crucial tackles and hitting rucks.

Unfortunately, Rohan S had to retire after the referee accidentally stepped on his foot, bringing the match to a close.

A spokesperson for Weston RFC U11s said: "Thank you to the Burnham players who played every minute and improved as the game went on."
