Cool but calm conditions greeted those gathered to contest the Treasurers Trophy which is played in the memory of David Barthram on Sunday morning.

Barthram was a long time Brean Golf Club member serving as Club Captain, Committee member and for many many years as Club Treasurer and now the Trophy that holds that name is played for annually in his memory since his passing just more than two years ago.

The format was greensomes stableford and three duo's reached the 40 point mark. One of those three pairings in the form of Barry Roe and Tony McCann surpassed it by 4 to win by a clear margin. They received the Trophy at the Presentation from David's son Paul who is also a club member and took part in the event. The other two 40 scoring pairs had to be separated by a back nine countback with Dave Bradley and Mel Brown taking second with the better homeward run in their return. Simon Prior and Leighton Jenkins had to settle for third place.

Saturday's Pro Shop Stableford was claimed by Ian Adams. He was the only player sub-par with his 37 point scorecard giving him a single point advantage over runner up Kevin Hollyhead. Clive Goode was third on 35.

The second round of the Seniors Eclectic was played last Thursday morning. Of the 22 players who took part just two beat their handicap for their rounds. Leading the way was Martin Conway who returned a very impressive nett 65 to take victory. He was three clear of Mike Allen who took the runners up prize with his nett 68. Three players tied for third on 70 with Shaun Clark winning the countback relegating Dave Cogger and Tony Higgins to 4th and 5th respectively.
