The Winscombe Sports and Social Club team won the annual four-way skittles match for the Bancroft Trophy on Saturday.

The annual match is held in memory of club member Brian Bancroft.

Captained by Merv Brean, the team emerged victorious, scoring 444 in a closely-fought game against Weston Central, Weston District, and Wrington Vale.

The District team were narrow runners up, achieving a score of 442.

Wrington and Central teams trailed behind with 430 and 428 respectively.

M Pike and M Cooper from the District team, P Stewart from Central, and N Moore and L Dodd from the Sports Club were rewarded with bottles of wine for achieving the highest scores in each set.

Alongside the thrilling competition, the match also raised more than £150 for charity.

P Hawkins from the Central team made arrangements for the proceeds to go to a selected charity.

Participants and spectators enjoyed a great spread of food by Tina and Dave, and Holly and her bar staff ensured everyone was well served.
