It was a mixed week for Clarence Bowling Club as the men's team came away with a win, but the ladies lost.
The mens' team secured victory over Ashcombe Templars in an away fixture in the Over 55’s League, attaining a significant 125 shots to 74 shots victory.
Despite one losing rink, the team managed to garner another 18 points to their increasing total.
One of the teams, comprising Mike Fry, Gordon Sansam and skippered by Allan Cord, despite a shaky start, ended on a high transforming a one-point deficit into a five-point lead which was maintained till the end.
The ladies, however, faced a defeat against West Backwell with a score of 39 shots to 56 shots.
Despite winning one of the three rinks, the ladies fell behind on the other two.
The only winning team, led by Carol Edlin alongside Jan Anning and Jill Coles, showed immense command in the first five ends.
However, they faltered and dropped nine shots over two ends.
Displaying resilience, they managed to clinch three of the four remaining ends and securing the rink win, yet it was not enough for the team to get the overall win.
