HOWDEN Insurance is launching a jersey design contest ahead of The British & Irish Lions' 2025 Australian Tour.

The firm is inviting the public to create their own Canterbury Lions jersey that captures the spirit of the tour.

With one year until the Lions begin their tour, Howden is drumming up anticipation with this competition.

The winner will see their design come to life on a shirt that will be framed and given to them, plus they will receive up to 30 shirts for their local rugby team.

This is just one in a series of local events organised by Howden, including rugby sponsorships, kit exchanges, Lions Pet Pawtraits and family days.

Andy Reid, branch manager at Howden Taunton expressed his pride in the partnership, saying: "Having the Howden name emblazoned on The British & Irish Lions jersey is a privilege and an honour.

"And we must earn our right to be on the iconic shirt, just as every player who’s worn it has.

"Rugby has many opportunities, and yet as a sport, faces so many challenges on and off the field - that’s why we’re so committed to helping rugby thrive in the communities we serve."

Howden's team aims to keep local rugby and wider sports as integral aspects of the community.

They hope to achieve this by promoting local sports clubs, helping them find the right insurance for their facilities and equipment, and sponsoring local teams.

These efforts ensure players of all backgrounds, ages and genders have the support needed to face any obstacle.

Mr Reid added: "With the Lions as our North Star, we’re working at a grassroots level to nurture future talent, and protect the values that help make sport an integral part of local communities.

"Values that bond and unite us, reminding us what is so special about the game.

"Here’s to the exciting journey that lies ahead – we can’t wait to share it with you!"
