St Andrew's Mens A team beat Clevedon Promenade B in North Division One of the Somerset County League for a much needed win.

Despite being behind at halfway in gloomy conditions, an exceptional turnaround by Derek Hurst's team from 3-13 down after 10 ends to an eventual 19-19 draw spurred the Saints forward.

St Andrew’s A finished with 56(9pts), besting Clevedon Prom B's 52(3pts).

When the other two rinks finished leaving Saints just three shots ahead, a victorious end relied on Jack Angove's men.

A masterstroke by veteran Gordon Wride on the final end secured the win.

Unfortunately, the Saints men's B team, including three women, recorded their first loss, despite winning two out of the three rinks against Winscombe C.

However, they remain second in North Division Three.

In this tense competition, Winscombe C took the win with 57 points against St Andrews B's 53.

The women's team of St Andrews, however, continued their winning streak, gaining a 14-point advantage against Victoria Blue.

The match, although affected by rain, ended with St Andrews acquiring a commendable 10 points in the Women’s Somerset County League Central Division.

Two devoid player matches did not prevent the Saints' women from claiming two victories in the DRT League.

The Seagulls, Saints’ Fantastic Fives indoor team, saw redemption in their rematch with North Petherton Hornets, thrashing them 6-2.

This win positions them on the precipice of the knockout stages.

Over the weekend, a golf bowls fun day, hosted by the club, saw Lee and Sam Stocker clinch runner-up and winner titles respectively in the major event.

Meanwhile, Geoff Sims and Tim Wyatt delighted attendees as winner and runner-up in the plate final.
