Clarence Bowling Club have had a hugely successful past week as they progressed in two knockout cups and won their other three league matches.
The first of the cup wins came in the Tony Allcock KO Cup in which their 36-21 victory over Purnell saw them reach the final of the area competition.
Rink of the Day went to Jo Mannion, Lyn Leigh and Tony Mannion alongside Skip Gordon Leigh.
After six ends they had taken 13-shots without reply and the team continued to totally dominate the match through-out, running away with an eighteen-shot win.
In Clarence’s second cup match of the week, they took on Portishead in the quarter finals of the County Over-55s Wood Pairs competition and came out 26-19 winners.
Clarence’s pair of Lyn Leigh and Christine Hooper were well in control up until the 9th end where Portishead hit back winning four straight ends and getting within one shot.
However, Leigh and Hooper went on to take three ends and extended their lead to the game winning seven-point difference.
Elsewhere during the week Clarence’s league squads completed a clean sweep of victories.
There was yet another great win for Clarence’s Over 55s Blues team as they beat Banwell 111-76 to complete the season double over their opponents.
Rink Of the Day went to Martin Field and Mike Samways, who were skipped by Doug Grier.
After the fourth end and Grier’s men took the next 12 ends, giving them a mighty lead that saw them win by 17 shots.
Clarence’s Ladies recorded the other two league wins this week.
Firstly, they recorded a good 53-45 away win against Clevedon Promenade in the North Somerset Triples League, with Jane Sansom, Val Mellow, and Corrine Thomas coming away as Rink of the Day.
The Ladies then went on to beat Congresbury 52-49 in what was a close and tense affair with only a couple of points separating the side.
Rink seven of Tina Gordon and Jan Anning, alongside skip Shirley Searle, were five shots behind by the 11th end.
But a run of four winning ends and nine shots gained helped Clarence take the lead and run away with a four-shot win that was vital to winning the overall fixture.
