Wrington Redhill FC have been relegated from the Premier Division of the Somerset County League after a 3-1 away defeat to Ilminster Town in their last game of the season.
It was a must win game for Wrington Redhill against Ilminster and then they were relying on Chard to inflict defeat on Worle as the only possible route to safety, but it was not to be.
One goal in the first half and two goals in 10 minutes in the second for Ilminster consigned Redhill to defeat despite giving it their best efforts and dominating possession for portions of the game.
Ryan Pugh did get one back late on for the Redskins, but it would prove to be just a consolation goal.
After only winning one game from August to the end of March the Weston-based team put in a valiant effort throughout April, winning five of their last nine games to bring them within one win from safety.
However, the defeat to Ilminster means relegation back to the First Division for Wrington after promotion last year, but the squad, management and fans can be proud of their efforts to fight back for survival and will certainly look to go again in the 2024/25 season.
