It’s been a successful week for Clarence Bowling Club as all their teams recorded wins.

On Tuesday Clarence Ladies won a hard-fought match against Portishead Poppies 42-39, the closest match was with Jan Field and Corrine Thomas, skipped by Christine Hooper.

After 13 ends it was all square, but Hooper’s Ladies finished the game 17-11 winners.

The Over 55’s made a great start to 2024 and took all 20 points against the Victoria Vikings, winning 149-71.

The closest game came from rink six with Nigel Martin, Derek Weston and Doug Grier.

The team stormed out of the blocks to lead 12-4 after the ninth end and took five of the last six ends to get the overall win.

There was another great win for the Over 55 Blues later in the week, this time against Winscombe Pioneers as they won 158-49.

Rink of the Day must go to Martin Ford and Tony Mannion, skippered by Gordon Owen.

The Pioneers were on the ropes from the start with Owen’s team piling constant pressure on and taking the victory by 40 shots.

Clarence also had a good result in Fours Competition this week, beating Keynsham 23-18.

Both rinks played well and will now face either Yatton or Clevedon Prom in the next round.
