Weston Golf Club held their inaugural Curry Cup on Saturday 6th April, which acted as the start of this year’s non-competitive club competitions.
This is the first of a series of fun events for members who play on Saturdays that’s being run by the golf club, coming in response to a survey that polled members to see what they would like to see added to the club.
124 male and female members took part in the inaugural competition and, as the name suggests, the golf was followed by a very tasty curry.
The format was a social bowmaker, and there was also a number of prizes up for grabs in a nearest the pin competition.
Those in the prizes were: Adam Jones, Samuel Jones, Sam Clark and Ricky Bennett who came in on 77, Ian Hudson, Lewis Dingley, Paddy Burrell, and Darren Selman came in on 76, and Dave Cummins, John Whitewood, Dave Ward, and Ben Riddell all came in on 75.
Claiming the prizes for nearest the pin were Rich Heal on the 3rd hole (10+), Darren King on the 11th (-9) and Andy Chambers on the 10th (All).
