Golfers at Isle of Wedmore faced two competitions in one day at this years Ladies Spring Meet.
Having gone through the winter hoping and praying to fit in some nine-hole limited competitions if the course could stand up to the weather, the Ladies at Wedmore suddenly found themselves with two rounds to complete on the same day.
An 18-hole Stableford in the morning followed by a nine-hole bowmaker in the afternoon was open for those fit and keen enough to play 27 holes.
All this followed by a meal in the evening and a presentation of the 3 trophies up for grabs, the main event being the morning Stableford.
The best scores of the morning competition were in Division 1 with Eunice Bond having the best score of the day, 35 points, to win the Midgley Cup.
Cathy Olive took second place on countback from Gina Falcon after both players had scored 30 points.
Players in Division 2 were competing for the Fry Cup, which this year went to Pru Witter.
Her score of 30 points was two better than the second place Fran Mcmillan, who in turn was one shot ahead of third placed Karen Barnett.
Janet Cornish had the second-best score of the day, 34 to win Division 3 by eight clear points from Jenny Thomas, who beat Angela Tanner for the silver medal on countback.
The afternoon Bowmaker was a triumph for Ladies Captain Lyn Bird who teamed up with Karen Clark and Susie Spragg to win with 32 points, just one better than second placed team Ronnie Follenfant, Pru Witter and Maggie Dommett.
The other sections all completed competitions as well, with the seniors playing a Stableford and the best scores were again in Division 1.
Robert Watts won on 41 ahead of Ian Sentance on 40 and David Crew on 39.
Steve Sweeting won Division 2 with 34 followed by Roy Tomlins and Clive Warren-Smith.
Tony King took first place in Division 3 followed by Peter Searle and John Sims both on 35 whilst in division 4 John Harding beat Keith Bellingham on countback with Geoff Brooks in third.
The scheduled general competition for the weekend was a medal, with no one beating their handicaps, showing how tough then conditions still are.
Best of the day was Alan Richardson winning Division 1 after coming in with a level par 70, with Pete Brown taking second and Mark Earwaker in third.
Liam Cann won Division 2 on 72, with Jon Raeside second and Steve Major third.
Peter Sismanovic won Division 3 by two shots from Ken Fisher on 75, with Chris Manville another shot back in third.
Jane Prosser was a very clear winner of the ladies followed by Nicola Stevenson who beat Sally Stephens on countback.
