And still it goes on, this week the rain caused the cancellation of two more competitions at the Isle of Wedmore Golf Club, the bank holiday Bowmaker and the Ladies Medal on Thursday.
The Seniors match against Farrington was also called off but fortunately the alternative Stableford survived albeit reduced to 15 holes.
As usual many players defied the sticky ground conditions and an unexpected reduction in everybody’s handicap ended up producing some good scores despite the terrible conditions.
David Crew won Division 1 with 32 points, and in an orderly progression was followed by Phil McMahon on 31 points, and Ian Robson on 30.
Division 2 produced the closest finish of the day with Trevor Guy beating Gordon Kendall on countback after they both scored 32, and Martin Blackmore was close to them both coming in third and just one shot behind them.
Geoff Brooks was clear winner of Division 3 after ending his rounds on 30 points which was one better than Barry Royal’s 29, and Philip Springfield ended up third on the podium after finishing on 26 points.
The forecast is looking no better for the next weeks but the course is open for the season at Isle of Wedmore Golf Club.
