At last, the rain relented to allow the Monthly Stableford to go ahead this weekend at Wedmore, the first competition of the New Year, writes Anthony Biggs.
Considering that conditions were still very damp the scoring was very respectable. Top score of the day by some margin came from Chris Mckinley, who won Division 3 by five points after scoring 43 points.
This put him well clear of Garry Stimpson and Darren Hayward, with Stimpson taking second place on countback.
The other divisions were very much closer. Jason Simms won Division 1 by a single point after scoring 39 points. Again, countback was needed to sort out the other places with Marc Large taking the runners-up spot ahead of Moly Mcmillan.
There was a very similar result in Division 2, which was won by Richard Jackson on 38, ahead of Andrew Charter on 37, beating Ian Williams on countback. Not too many Ladies chose to play this week with Jane Prosser winning with 32 points ahead of Sandy Bedford and Fran Mcmillan.
