Jermaine Jones began his boxing career with an impressive performance against Otis Holliday to pick up his first ever win at the Bridgwater BMA boxing club recently.
Jones only took up boxing four months ago, following his retirement from rugby, when he began training with team Savage under Alex Owen and Jed Stansfield.
And Jones was impressive in his first bout with the unbeaten Holliday, who had won all of his four of previous fights he had fought in.
After three two minute rounds at 105kg, Jones, who was watched by his two cricket clubs Shaftesbury Road and Uphill Castle CC, was awarded the win by a unanimous decision.
Jones explained his decision to box was because he “wanted to start something new” and said he is pleased to open his account with victory over Holliday.
“I’ve been boxing for four months and was excited to get in the ring because I knew the training I have is the best around,” he said.
“I was buzzing get my first win with both my Shaftesbury and Uphill cricket teams in the crowd.”
