Chris Penny scored on his debut to help Weston Hockey Club Men maintain their 100 per cent start to the season in Concorde Division One with a 3-1 win against North Somerset Firsts on Saturday.

Weston opened the scoring within 30 seconds after captain Jack Pitt pounced upon a loose ball and send it the D for Alex Leeks to volley home.

The game then settled and the back five of Jacob Dale, Ross Harrington, CJ Neate, Matt Kearsey and Nick Bily were solid and transferred the ball well creating openings for the forwards of OJ Standeven, Alex Leeks and Alistair Mead.

Pitt and Penney were the sole midfielders while George Davis, James Leeks and Alex Thorne rotated in the back five to keep things strong.

Ben Morgan and Elliot Wood rotated though the midfield and goalkeeper Tom Fox kept North Somerset at bay as Weston went into half-time with a 1-0 lead.

Penney made it two after finding his way through half the victors and in a one-two with Mead he rounded the goalkeeper to slot home with ease. Mead then rounded the keeper to slot into the net to make it 3-0.

North Somerset grabbed one back after a rare mistake from the Weston defenders allowed a two verses one opportunity against Fox.
