Weston-super-Mare Hockey Club’s annual club day was successful recently.

Despite the wet and windy weather over 50 people, young players, parents and club members, turned out at the Priory School.

Weston delivered training sessions on basics from how to hold the stick, dribble, pass and shoot before heading into a few fun games.

Club chairman CJ Neate said the day went well and hopes the event has brought in more players.

“Our annual club day was once again a great success with some excellent on hockey on display from all ages,” Neate said.

“It was fantastic to see so many of our current players out there mingling with new players and being so welcoming.

“We hope we have inspired some new recruits and they go on to enjoy their hockey with us as their club of choice.

“We are always welcome to new players joining us, for junior and senior hockey and hope we play our part in ensuring hockey thrives in the area.”

Weston look to build of this with the ladies and men’s teams both returning to league action on Saturday, September 30 with both sides playing Firebrands.

Whether you are young or old, new to the game or experienced, Weston hold training sessions between 6pm and  9:30pm every Thursday evening at Priory Community School.
