TWELVE members of Hornets RFC helped Somerset to win their league match with Hampshire RFU at the weekend in the Bill Beaumont County Championship.

It was a great game of rugby played in Taunton as Somerset ran out victors 41-24.

Hornets players didn't just take part though as Tommy Bailey was awarded Star Man for his performance in the match.

Also Charlie Carter, Keiran Ward, Alec Chase and Callum Lane all scored a try in the match, while Jamie Elswood converted three tries.

Hornets RFC said: "Congratulations to Somerset Men who with the help of 11 Hornets players and Head Coach beat Hampshire by 41 points to 24 at Taunton to stay in Division 1 South for another year.

"And so the season finally finishes for these boys and a short break until 20th June when pre-season starts!"

The Hornets players involved in the match were Harry Lyon, Jamie Elswood, Jack Gadd, Charlie Carter, Jordan Humphris, Tommy Bailey, Callum Lane, Hayden Tuttiett, Kieran Ward, Ayden Chenoweth, Alec Chase, and Connor Vickery.

The result means the Somerset Senior Men maintain their League status for another season.
