Winscombe Ladies Hockey Club had a lot to celebrate at their end of season annual dinner recently.
All four teams played some great hockey throughout the season with the first XI being promoted after finishing top of the West Women’s Division Two Central league.
The annual dinner is an evening to review the past season and award individuals for their great performance and commitment to the club.
Imogen Marsh and Tia Craig both claimed the Firsts Player's Player of the Year award, Ciara Ambrosius was crowned player of the year and leading goalscorer of the year, followed by Maisie Holland who won the squad member of the year.
The second XI player's player of the year was awarded to Lola Woods, player of the Year claimed by Linny Baker, Trinity Conroy the squad member of the year and Ella Robinson the leading goalscorer.
Lilly Reeves was named the third player's player of the year, Sky Gould picked up the player of the year with Emily Hillman squad member of the year and the leading goalscorer shared by both Polly Jones and Helen Sinclair
Annabel Toogood was named Fourths XI Player's Player of the Year while Player of the Year went to both Milly Gell and Mabel Withers
Hattie Holland was named squad member of the year, Darcy Mackay won the club member and Fourths Leading Goal Scorer, alongside Esther Wring.
Winscombe are also proud to have a strong junior section which feeds into the senior side of the club, and this was reflected in the addition of a new under-16 Player of the Year award won by Verity Clark, who was also the firsts leading goalscorer of the year, and both Dot Pincott and Anna Streatfeild-James crowned under-18 players of the year.
The strength of the younger players was also demonstrated across the other awards with all winners on the evening being aged 18 and under.
There was also a special presentation made to Jo Hann as she steps down as Club Chairman after 17 years. Hann has been on the club committee since 1991 and has been an integral part in putting the club in the very stable position it is in today.
One of Hann's greatest achievements is being recognised by England Hockey for the fact that Winscombe is an extremely well-run club.
With the summer hockey league just around the corner, Winscombe welcome any enquiries from new or returning players. Get in touch with the club on winscombehc@outlook.com.
