CONNOR Thompson continued his recent good run of form as he took the win in the April Stableford at Brean Golf Club.

He scored 43 points in Division Three and with it relegated competition debutant Gareth Davies into second after he had posted a very tidy 40 point score.

Another Davies was third, but no relation, as Kevin Davies defeated Kris Postlethwaite on a back nine countback after both had scored 36.

Dave Porter was the next best score on the day on his way to Division One glory. He scored 39 points and like Thompson held a three point advantage over the runner up Barry Fellows.

Steve Jones won a countback with Tommie Holyday and Dan Broom for third on 35.

Thirty five was the winning number in the middle Division as everyone seemed to struggle to accumulate points. It did however produce the closest finish of the day as Matt Haskins, John Cullinan and Phil Barry all handed in cards of 35.

The back nine countback saw Haskins take the victory ahead of Barry with Cullinan in third.

Just a solitary competitor beat the course in the annual Bogey event played in memory of Geoff Young and Wally Pape, two well respected and much missed Seniors members of the club.

That man was Barrie Tucker and he took the silverware with his excellent battling score of +1.

The difficult breeze blew many off course with a score of -1 being good enough to secure Mel Brown the runners up spot ahead of Brian Read and Ron Edmondson who both returned scores on -2 with Edmondson taking third on the countback.
