Weston Hockey Club Men were beaten in a five-goal thriller after Clifton Robinsons Sixths came away with a 3-2 win in West Men's Concorde Division One last Saturday.
The hosts opened the scoring after Tom Fox managed a brilliant initial save before being unable to prevent the rebound being tucked away.
This saw Clifton Robinsons on top and despite some good defending from Weston, the hosts found themselves breaking through to slot home and go 2-0 up.
Weston pushed forward to get back into the game and were awarded a penalty corner, after some good play from Elliot Burgess down the right. A well-worked routine saw Cam Slater slot home from a tight angle.
After half-time Weston pushed forward but found themselves down to 10 men after Burgess was shown a green card for Neate.
Clifton found themselves 3-1 ahead with goal from a penalty corner.
Neate returned to the pitch and after Weston were awarded a penalty corner following a foul to Curt Watkins, who was shown a yellow card.
Weston scored from the resulting short corner after Neate found Slater at the post who finished the move off for his second of the game as Weston fell just short.
