Weston Hockey Club were involved the wrong side of a seven-goal thriller as Old Bristolians seconds came away with a 4-3 win in their latest West Men's Concorde Division One encounter at Priory School last Saturday.
Weston started well and were awarded a short corner in the first minute, due to Alistair Mead being manhandled.
A good injection to CJ Neate followed by a good slap into the corner to put Weston 1-0 up.
OB’s reacted well, putting on constant pressure and equalised through Greg Walters before taking the lead through James Bullen.
Just before the half-time interval Charlie Plumptree scored to make it 3-1 to the visitors.
Weston started the second half very well and it was Jack Pitt, who found himself in space to flick home.
Mead then picked up a green card before OBs shortly made it 4-2 through Walters’ second from a short corner which was followed shortly afterwards by Weston’s Alex Thorne picking up another green card after he made a ill-disciplined tackle
Weston, however, kept piling on the pressure in to the final stages of the game and in the last two minutes Phillips made it 4-3 with an incredible strike but sadly time was up.
Weston look to bounce back at Bath Buccaneers this Saturday.
