A sunny autumn morning heralded the start of finals day at Cheddar Tennis Club recently.
The activities commenced early on with a fun round robin over-50s competition which was won by husband-and-wife team Karen and Richard Barnett.
This was followed by the interclub competition which took to the courts.
In the ladies doubles final Juliet Knight and Harriet Jones were victorious in straight sets over Dae Sasitorn and Jo Hardy.
In the men’s doubles Guy Sparey and Andrew Mearns were winners against Alan Foster and Mike Neslen 6-2, 6-0.
Knight then proceeded to another straight sets victory in the ladies’ singles against Claire Walker and Sparey played another match, losing in two sets to Stephen Pearce in the men’s singles final.
The mixed doubles final was a close and competitive match with Sparey and Katie Clark winning 3-6,7-6, 6-3 after a tough tousle against Josh Asson and Liz Collins.
The competition was well supported throughout the day by family and friends as the winners were presented with trophies and wine by the tournament organiser Mike Neslen and Chairperson Sarah Strawbridge.
