Weston Aerobic Gymnastics Club youngsters have enjoyed plenty of success as the new competitive season gets underway.
With many of their 60 gymnasts moving up age groups or categories, with new routines and skills, they claimed a total of 59 medals at the Southern Region Open Championships.
Kicking things off were the introductory code gymnasts, many of whom were at their first competition.
In the level 2 under-10 category golds went to Poppy Belbin, Isobelle Jones, Nicole Hall, Lauren Dean and Lily Richards, while in the level 3 over-11 group silvers went to Roman Potter, Jessica Butcher and Ella-Mae O’Connor.
Chloe Board, Maci-Rae Beaver, Darcy Darnell and Megan Macdonald-Atkins added bronze in the level 3 under-10 category.
Regional level gymnasts kept medals coming, with Lucy Whitfield and Faye Deuvall (10-11) and Abi Doolan and Jessie Hall (12-14) winning pairs golds.
Libby Hadley, Molly Hobbs and Justina Makoetlane (10-11) and Joe Hurst and Ewan Maynard (12-14) won trio and pairs silvers, while Marina Small, April Fogg and Naomi Doolan (12-14) took trio bronze.
Foundation level (nine-year-old) gymnasts Niamh Austen, Lottie Janes and Nicole Wong won gold, silver and bronze, as Maria Wong finished fourth, while the quartet were joined by Megan Harvey in winning group gold.
Day two saw National level competition bring two silvers for Jacob Dean (10-11) in individual and mixed pairs, with Delphine Churchill, as Jack Harvey and Rhys Harvey won individual silver and bronze in the 12-14 category.
Olivia Damarell and Lily Duffy claimed pairs silver and teamed up with Maddy Sherwood Dawson, Mpho Makoetlane and Kyra Bull for group gold.
And Mya McConell and Maddy Sherwood Dawson (15-17) added pairs silver, as Izzy Worrall set a personal best for senior gold and Emma Heeney returned from a four-year break to take silver.
The weekend finished with international level gymnasts competing in new age categories, with Lily-Jean Smith (10-11) winning singles gold as Lola Walby finished fourth.
Lola Lawrence, Katie Ferris and Jasmine Dight had Weston’s second clean sweep of medals in the 12-14 category, then added trio gold to the haul, as Lewis Harvey (15-17) took individual silver.
World medalist Molly Brown had her first outing as a junior and finished fifth with a score of 19.050.
Isidora Vucicevic, Rhys Williams and Bulmershe teammates Niamh Keane, Kate Donnelly and Renee Augier performed their new energetic and stylish group routine to earn the final gold medal for Weston.
They have been selected to represent Great Britain at the upcoming European Championships in Azerbaijan next month and Weston AGC manager Deb Saunders will also travel as manager.
Lead coach Kat Saunders said: “Although the continuing success of the club at all levels is wonderful and what we work hard for, the comments from other clubs about the team spirit and support shown by Weston AGC parents, gymnasts and coaches is what make the club so special and we are very pleased to be asked to mentor and support other clubs.”
