Boxer Dean Dodge says he will be 'chasing his dream' when fights Dennis Wahome for the Southern Area title this April.
Dodge's bout with Wahome in the Spring will be his second chance of picking up the belt he fought for in February 2021, where he lost on points to Danny Carr for the first defeat of his career.
Wahome comes into the bout, put on by Neilson Boxing, at London's York Hall having also suffered his first-ever loss in his last fight, on points to Liam Dillon when competing for the English title.
“I’m extremely looking forward to this fight with Dennis Wahome,” said Dodge.
“I’m buzzing to get another opportunity and to headline the whole show is unreal.
“(It) means the world. I’m just a small man from Yeovil chasing his dream. No-one is doing what I’m doing, I want to thank my manger Mo Prior for delivering yet again.
“He (Wahome) has a very similar record to myself and I know he’s a good boxer, who has done well as an amateur.
“I know he’s going to bring the best version of himself, I know he’s hungry just like myself, so it’s going to be a cracking fight.
“it’s going to be a big challenge but I back myself and I’m confident I’ll come away with the win on my London debut.”
Dodge has been through a lot in his boxing career so far, including a failed brain scan which ultimately saw him denied a professional license, being homeless and staying on a friend's sofa.
He even had two fights fall through last year, with one of them due to picking up Coronavirus not long before the bout.
But despite disappointment after disappointment, Dodge says he bounces back in the only way he knows best as he chases his goal of winning his first ever title.
“It’s life, these things happen,” he added.
“I can’t let it get me down, it was meant for my path so I just have to shake it off and come back stronger and on April 1. I'm coming back with a bang.
“I’m a persistent young man, I’ve been through loads of adversity in my life, it’s nothing new to me. I've just got to keep digging deep and the universe will eventually pay me.”
