Students from Kings of Wessex Academy were left ‘speechless’ and ‘screaming with joy’ at their A-level results.

The school has once again retained its impressive 99 per cent pass rate, with more than half of its students awarded grades A*-B.

Reuben Kouidri, from Wedmore, told the Mercury: “I was relieved when I found out I got into my first choice university but equally nervous about my results.

“I’m going to UCL in London and am excited for the new start. I’m doing some travelling in Nepal before I go though.”

Reuben was awarded two A*s and an A and was accepted to study biology chemistry at the University College London.

Another student was overjoyed with his grades was Doug Hodgson, from Panborough, achieved an A* and two As.

He said: “When I saw I got into Edinburgh I was in disbelief. My parents had to leave the room they were so nervous for me.”

Doug was all smiles as he shared his results with his friends. He will be taking a gap year and volunteering in India before going to Edinburgh University to study history and politics.

Head of Sixth Form, Rachel Hopwood, said: “It’s amazing to see all their hard work pay off. It’s concluded a great year, they have all been fabulous.”
