A Weston school welcomed an esteemed author to officially open a new block, which includes six classrooms.
Windwhistle Primary School, in Kinglsey Road, had a grand opening this week and celebrated with Andy Seed – who is now a reading patron at the school.
Mr Seed has written a number of funny books for children and adults. He even won Blue Peter awards for his writing back in 2015 and 2016.
Headteacher Lyn Hunt told the Mercury he was the perfect person to open the new block as the children have ‘loved’ working with him.
She said: “We are so fortunate to have been able to link up with Andy Seed, he is just the sort of author we were hoping to find.
“The children loved working with him and have been inspired to borrow his books from the school library and buying some too. We know enjoying reading is key to improving vocabulary.”
