SHOPPERS in Weston-super-Mare will benefit from a free bus service until this Saturday (December 7).
From now until Saturday, December 7, Weston-super-Mare's 6 bus service is offering completely free journeys with no tickets required to boost Christmas shopping in the area.
The half-hourly service 6 route connects Worle Terminus to Weston's Interchange, passing through popular stops including Upper Bristol Road, Worle High Street, and Mead Vale.
On Sundays, the service runs hourly, providing convenience throughout the week.
Cllr Hannah Young, executive member for Highways and Transport at North Somerset Council, said: "This free travel initiative is a wonderful way to support local businesses during the festive season while giving people the chance to socialise with friends and family.
“By showcasing how convenient it is to use the bus, we hope more people will choose public transport in the future.”
The free travel initiative is part of a wider campaign by North Somerset Council and First Bus to encourage more people to catch the bus and is funded by government money.
It also forms a part of the council’s Bus Service Improvement Plan, funded by the Department for Transport.
The plan is focused on creating a well-connected, efficient bus network to meet community needs now and in the future while ensuring bus services remain sustainable.
