A Weston man has been jailed for 12 weeks for failing to comply with the requirements of a court order.

Steven John Careslade, 41, of Upper Church Road, admitted breaching the order when he attended a hearing at Taunton and West Somerset Magistrates’ Court.

The bench was told he failed to attend two office appointments without giving a valid excuse.

He had been scheduled to attend as part of a 12-week suspended sentence imposed by the same court in September.

Careslade was dealt with last week for five original offences of theft and two of criminal damage.

The thefts were committed at the Coop, Spar (twice), and Morrisons in Weston, and one at BP Clevedon between May 12 and September 27 this year.

Careslade’s other original offences related to damaging a door at Boots in Weston and another door belonging to a named individual.

The total value of items stolen and damaged was estimated at just under £600.

Careslade was jailed for 12 weeks on each offence, with the sentences to run concurrently.
