THE parents of two children who failed to regularly attend their school in Weston have each been hit with a court bill of £1,300.
Each parent was fined £880 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £180 and a contribution of £240 towards court costs.
The parents, who were not present when the case was heard at North Somerset Magistrates’ Court according to court records, both pleaded guilty to the charges.
Their combined courts bills of £2,600 must be paid by December 14, magistrates ruled.
Meanwhile, the same court found another couple guilty in their absence of failing to regularly send their child to school in Weston.
They were each fined £440, along with a £90 victim surcharge and £250 costs.
The parents cannot be named so as to protect the children’s identity.
