The Admin and Finance manager of a residential home in Weston-super-Mare has recently won an award.
Kathy Durston-Heseltine, who works at Tilsley House, won the Office Administration award for 2024 at a ceremony run by Care and Support West. Kathy also works at Earlfield Lodge, the sister home of the company, Solomon Care Limited.
“We are residential/dementia homes in Weston-super-Mare. Tilsley House is a 32-bed home and Earlfield Lodge can look after 35 residents,” Kathy said.
“I felt very proud and honoured to have been nominated let alone win it. “I love my job and now working across the two homes in Weston, it gives me great pleasure.
“I was nominated and won but feel that the award was for all the staff who supported during the last year. So would like to thank them for their support,” she added.
Kathy was also shortlisted for the recent Great British regional finals.
Tilsley House started life as a care home in the 1980s.
Over the years the home has been extended and modernised to meet both demand as well as legislative requirements.
After the home came under new ownership in September 2010 (thus becoming part of Solomon Care Limited), the home has undergone a number of refurbishments, which included investment in the environment, technology and other improvements.
Tilsley House enjoys a favoured location, overlooking Weston-super-Mare's Clarence Park and just a couple minutes' walk to the beach front.
Earlfield Lodge is set up on the hill with views towards the sea front from a number of the bedrooms.
