A generous donation from Somerset Freemasons is set to greatly benefit North Somerset's rural youth population.

The £4,000 grant will enable Long Ashton Youth Club to continue its invaluable work, providing a safe space for young people and offering professional guidance.

It plays a crucial role in helping young people navigate issues related to substance abuse, social media, gender, and identity.

The funds will also be used to provide positive activities and support to deter adolescents from risky behaviours.

(Image: Les Pickersgill) Club chairman, Phil Jackson, said: "We are very grateful to the Somerset Freemasons for their generous grant which will make a big difference in the lives of the young people we work with."

The youth club serves as a safe haven for those aged 8 to 19 years, offering the opportunity to socialise, have fun, and develop life skills.

Mr Jackson added: "This support, along with other grants, enables the youth club to provide three youth club sessions this coming year together with a drop-in after school session and support our mission to make a difference to young people’s lives."

It offers professional guidance and support, helping young people develop holistically and facilitating their personal, social, and educational development.

In doing so, the club aims to empower them to find their voice, influence, and place in society, and ultimately, reach their full potential.

Graham Puddy from Somerset Freemasons said: "I am very pleased we have been able to help The Long Ashton Youth Club with their valuable programme for local young people who need this crucial support.

"Thanks to L.A.Y.C., these young people have an outlet to receive social support for the individual issues they find themselves in."
