THIS year’s Christmas Lights Switch-On event at Weston-super-Mare will move indoors to avoid the worst weather of Storm Burt. The event will still take place on Saturday, November 23, albeit with some changes.
The Lights Switch-On will happen at 5pm, but the ceremony will now be held inside the Winter Gardens and live-streamed to a screen in the venue.
Many of food and drink producers as part of the eat Festival also taking place will now be inside the Winter Gardens (access via the Garden Café entrance). There will also still be food trucks outside in the Italian Gardens near The Sovereign.
Weston-super-Mare Town Council said: “Despite the weather forecast looking less than festive, Weston-super-Mare's Christmas Lights Switch-On and eat Festivals: Weston Christmas Edition are still happening this Saturday, 23rd November 2024”
In addition, Weston Brass Band will be performing festive tunes in the Sovereign Centre and the Pauline Quirke Academy will see talented performers take the stage inside the Winter Gardens to bring you Christmas cheer. Father Christmas will also be at the event.
There is Free Bus Travel on selected routes and free parking from 3pm at the Sovereign Centre.
Weston Town Council ended: “Thank you for bearing with us as we adjust to the weather. Wrap up warm and come along for a brilliant day of festive cheer! Let’s make this Christmas one to remember.”
