AN OCCUPATIONAL therapist from Kewstoke who supports men and women hospitalised with their mental health struggles has won an award for his “unwavering commitment” to others.

Josh Jones is the regional lead and head of Occupational Therapy at Cygnet Hospital Kewstoke, a 71-bed mental health hospital on Beach Road.

During Occupational Therapy week at the start of the month, OT colleagues from across the country came together to celebrate and take part in the OT Awards, organised by Cygnet, a leading provider of health and social care services.

Josh won the ‘Value and Develop Our Staff’ award which recognised OTs who encourage others to develop skills and knowledge, encourage creative thinking and support staff with their wellbeing.

The nomination script read: “Josh has demonstrated authentic leadership with a drive and passion for staff development. “He has worked dynamically across disciplines wit to harness better joint working and opportunities for colleagues.

“Josh has demonstrated compassion and empathy and has been an integral part of the hospital’s open culture.

“There is an unwavering commitment to foster a culture of learning, development and well-being within the occupational therapy and wider hospital team.

“He has played a pivotal role in creating a supportive and inclusive environment where staff feel valued and empowered.

“He always provides constructive feedback and support to find workable solutions to any issues. His passion for developing staff makes him a fantastic leader.”

After receiving the award, Josh said: “This award is really appreciated. I have so much support in my role and I’m really grateful to have this recognition.”
