WORKS to improve signage and crossing facilities on a roundabout in Weston-super-Mare have been completed through a scheme worth £22,000.
Improvement works at the Francis Fox roundabout were carried out last week the North Somerset Travel and Roads group said.
The improvements included: replacing signage, installing a ‘keep clear’ zone at the exit of Tesco, refreshing yellow lines, improving crossing facilities for those who walk and wheel, extending tactile paving, vital for helping those who are visually impaired to cross the road safely.
This scheme was identified through our annual road traffic collision analysis which showed six collisions nearby between 2020 and 2022.
The Neighbourhood Traffic and Road Safety team assessed it and recognised that road safety could be improved by clearer signage and road makings.
Works took place overnight to minimise disruption to road users and local residents.
The scheme is expected to cost £22,000 and the money for it has come from the Local Transport Plan (LTP) fund, which means its ringfenced for improvements like this and cannot be used on other works like filling potholes.
