Two MPs have met with a minister to discuss North Somerset Council's funding crisis.
Dan Aldridge, Weston-super-Mare's MP, and Sadik Al-Hassan, North Somerset's MP, spoke with Jim McMahon, minister of state for local Government, on Monday, October 21.
The meeting aimed to address the "extremely difficult funding situation" facing the council.
Over the past 14 years, the authority has been hit by "severe budget cuts" and "ongoing funding uncertainty," impacting all areas of its services.
As a result, councillors and officials are expected to make some difficult decisions in the coming months.
Mr Aldridge and Mr Al-Hassan are now working closely with council officials and the government to tackle immediate challenges and explore potential opportunities.
A joint statement from the MPs said: "Both MPs are committed to working alongside the council and would like to thank them for their dedication to our communities."
