A SEA shanty band are proud to announce that the Weston-super-Mare Sea Shanty and Folk Music Festival has been shortlisted for the UK Festival Awards 2024.
The Steepholmers were shortlisted for the Grassroots Festival, Best Micro Festival, and Best Festival for Families categories.
Tens of thousands of festival fans cast hundreds of thousands of votes across 350 entries from over 200 festivals.
In response, the judges have deliberated and the winner of each category will be revealed at the UK Festival Awards Party in Bristol on December.
The Weston-super-Mare Sea Shanty and Folk Music Festival is one of the largest sea shanty festivals in the West of England, taking place annually on the first weekend of August, helping to raise funds for the RNLI and Weston Lions.
This year’s festival took place from August 2 to 4, 2024, featuring over 40 bands from all over the UK and beyond, playing at venues spread around the town centre, the sea front, and the Italian Gardens.
Admission to all venues was free as in previous years.
The festival is now a major event in the southwest music calendar bringing an opportunity for everyone to enjoy live music in a safe and family-friendly way.
