I noted that North Somerset Council failed to fly the Wessex flag on October 26, which is King Alfred's Day.
Surely that is not too much to ask of the council.
There are not that many rulers who have 'Great' added to their name, e.g Alexander the Great, Peter the Great, Catherine the Great and King Alfred the Great.
I am told that The Kings of Wessex School in Cheddar flies the flag and so does King Alfred's School in Highbridge.
Shame on North Somerset Council, I say.
Back in the day, Wessex was the foremost country in Europe.
That should be the source of pride for us.
Yours faithfully,
Robert Craig
