AS PART of the school’s celebrations for Black History Month, Broadoak Academy students and staff joined together to take a stand against racism by participating in Wear Red Day, an initiative organised by the UK charity, Show Racism the Red Card.
Show Racism the Red Card was established in January 1996, thanks in part to a donation by then Newcastle United goalkeeper Shaka Hislop.
On this National Day of Action, the Broadoak community showed their commitment to equality and inclusion by wearing red to school in solidarity with the cause.
Rose Hooke, associate assistant principal at Broadoak Academy, expressed her pride in the students and staff for their involvement.
She said: “We were so proud to see so many of our young people and staff stand up for what's right, and we also raised some valuable funds for the charity in the process.”
By taking part in Wear Red Day, Broadoak Academy reaffirmed its dedication to creating an inclusive environment and supporting important social causes.
