Weston CAMRA celebrates 25th anniversary with pub’s special ale

Steve Reed, the chairman of the branch, said Weston's Fathead Brewery brewed a special 25th anniversary ale, which will be tapped and served on October 30 to mark the CAMRA’s anniversary.

Steve said the town, previously considered a “beer desert”, now has seven pubs on the Good Beer Guide.

Steve said: “Weston CAMRA was founded by four like-minded real ale enthusiasts with the aim of encouraging the availability of quality beer in a town that was considered a 'beer desert'.

“Weston was a town which many considered to be somewhat of a 'beer desert' that served only a limited choice for real ale lovers in general.

“Back then, only a handful of pubs actually served real ale, some of whom are still surviving today however, the availability and variety today has improved massively, to such an extent that we even have two highly regarded breweries in the town whose beers are now travelling far and wide. beyond the confines of the town.

“This autumn, seven of our local pubs have achieved entries in the current Good Beer Guide, the independent and prestigious bible for lovers of fine ale, with many others in and around Weston currently vying to be included in next year's edition.

“Thankfully, our real ale scene has come a long way in 25 years and that's something everyone associated with the branch can be proud of.

“To mark the occasion, Weston's Fathead Brewery has brewed a special 25th anniversary ale, which will be tapped and served on October 30 at the Brewery's taproom, to coincide with a celebratory social arranged by the local branch during the evening.

“All real ale enthusiasts are welcome, so do come along and help us celebrate from 7pm onwards.”
