Businesses in North Somerset are being offered free Carbon Literacy training.

North Somerset Council is participating in Carbon Literacy Action Day on Thursday, November 14, the world's largest climate education-and-action training event.

As part of this, the council is offering free Carbon Literacy training for up to 30 businesses and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) in North Somerset.

The all-day training session will be delivered online.

An additional session may be added during the week, depending on demand.

To register, interested parties should email Climate.Emergency@n-somerset.gov.uk by Thursday, October 31.

Councillor Annemieke Waite, North Somerset Council’s executive member for climate, waste, and sustainability, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for businesses and organisations in North Somerset to move along their journey to net zero – for free.

"Helping them understand the causes and effects of climate change, and what they can do to address the impacts, will help us in our mission to become a green and thriving North Somerset.

"Carbon Literacy training normally costs £125 per person, but we’re offering this course for free as part of Carbon Literacy Action Day.

"The course is delivered by one of the council’s trained officers.

"I’m very pleased that we’re once again going to be part of this record-setting global movement."

The council has previously won awards for its Carbon Literacy training, including a Catalyst Award from the Carbon Literacy Project.

This year’s training day is specifically tailored towards local businesses and VCSEs, offering opportunities for learning, discussion, and networking.
