RESIDENTS and visitors to Weston-super-Mare are being warned of a road closure as the popular Beach Race returns to town this weekend with its 41st edition.

North Somerset Council, through its Weston Seafront Facebook page, said “no public vehicle access or parking along Marine Parade on Thursday or Friday”.

The full message read: “Weston Beach Race – Marine Parade access update: “Heads up, everyone. Weston Beach Race is taking place this weekend, and there will be a road closure/road reverse along Marine Parade: “No public vehicle access or parking along Marine Parade on Thursday or Friday.

“Beach parking will be available for riders only on Friday, and will then open to both riders and the public on Saturday and Sunday.

“There will be a road reverse in place along Marine Parade, so please follow event traffic signage.

“Clifton Link Road and the northern end of Marine Parade will re-open to public vehicles as usual on Monday, October 14.

“Thank you for your understanding, and we hope you enjoy the race.”

As explained on the RHL website, attendees will be able to see riders take on the mammoth circuit, which is around six miles long, with the famous 2km start which creates a buzz as you see and hear the roar of bikes, quads and sidecars go down the straight.

Riders from ages seven to 70 will have the chance to tackle the circuit.

There will be a total of four races taking place over the weekend, with a wide range of vehicles.

Weston Beach Race will take place between October 11 and October 13.
