A WOMAN has raised more than £24,000 for an ovarian cancer charity in memory of her mum.

Candice Rollings, who runs The Ship Inn in Uphill, launched her fundraising campaign for Target Ovarian Cancer after her mum, Janette Rollings, known as 'Net', died in June 2023.

Her fundraising efforts included organising charity pool matches, prize raffles, quizzes, and a music festival over a 10-month period.

Her partner Ashley and nephew Jared also completed a skydive to support the cause.

Candice said: "After the passing of my mum Janette Rollings, a wonderful yet crazy lady, in June last year, I decided to raise some money for Target Ovarian Cancer to hopefully aid in earlier detection for this horrible disease.

"The target started small then grew and grew.

"I run The Ship Inn in Uphill for Sharon and Martin Harris and just knew they would be both so willing to help me and support anything I decided to do.

"We started with charity pool matches between ourselves and the Old Kings Head, then a big raffle with fantastic donations.

"Everyone has given their quiz winnings every week, the landlord and lots of locals went sober for February, then my partner Ashley and my nephew Jared did a charity skydive and we finished with a big music festival at the ship, NETFEST, where all local music acts performed.

"People volunteered their time, food, beverages, so many generous raffle prizes, posters, banners, and the stage built by J. Cooper Scaffolding, all donated for free, ensuring the day went off without a hitch."
