A MAN who recreated a photograph his mum originally took on the beach in Weston-super-Mare back in 1964 said he “forgot how beautiful” the coast was.
Rosemary Capel had her photo taken on the beach in Weston 60 years ago, and last Sunday her son Pete took her to the town to recreate it.
Mr Capel, who lives in Reading, said his mum and her family used to go on holiday in Weston and she was 14 when the original photo was taken.
Weston residents helped them find the exact location, which was identified near the Thatched Cottage and the Victoria Mansions Apartments, near Knightstone Road.
He said: “She was 14 and was on holiday with her parents.
“I was going through some old photos and when I found the one in Weston I thought it was a good idea to recreate it.
“So, 60 years on, we went down there, and people were very helpful on Facebook in pin-pointing the location.
“My mum didn’t realise it was 60 years ago. She loves the sea, and she loves being near the coast, and it brought back childhood memories of when she was there on holiday.
“She took me there when I was a child. I forgot how beautiful it was. It’s a lovely beach with a lovely seafront.
“We will be back more in the future.”
