Staff at a care company in North Somerset have celebrated raising over £1,000 during a seafront walk in Weston-super-Mare.
Money raised from the July 2024 event is destined for the Alzheimer’s Society, the country’s primary dementia charity.
The charity lends support and hope to the 900,000-plus UK dementia sufferers, the majority of whom are aged 65 and over.
The prevalence of dementia escalates with age.
One in 14 people over 65 are affected, increasing to one in six after 80 years old.
Alzheimer's disease constitutes the most widespread form of dementia.
The organisers of the charity walk, Right at Home North Somerset, provides invaluable support to elderly and vulnerable adults in their homes.
The care company honours its commitment to create a supportive community for both its clients and employees.
Right at Home promotes a range of staff support initiatives such as coffee mornings, buddy systems and regular social gatherings.
It also provides mental health assistance and professional development opportunities.
Through these undertakings, Right at Home aims to ensure continuity among the staff, resulting in stronger relationships with clients.
The care company's commitment to fostering an inclusive environment is reflected in its high staff satisfaction and a five-star employer rating.
Ultimately, this dedication to its workers translates to a high standard of care for its clients.
Jasmine Frost, recruitment and marketing manager at Right at Home North Somerset, said: "We’re thrilled to have raised such a fantastic amount towards our chosen charity, the Alzheimer’s Society and want to say a huge ‘thank you’ to everyone who participated and donated.
"Every year we hold a fundraising event for one of our partner charities and this year we took part in a four mile walk along the picturesque Weston-super-Mare seafront. It was great to see lots of people from the community join us and show their support.
"We set off from Weston’s Marine Lake and walked a full circle back to the lake. The weather was on our side, making the event even more enjoyable."
