STAFF at a North Somerset care company are celebrating after raising more than £1,000 for a national Alzheimer’s charity (July, 2024).
The team at Right at Home North Somerset took part in a seafront walk in Weston-super-Mare recently and raised £1,086 for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Jasmine Frost, recruitment and marketing manager at Right at Home North Somerset, said: “We’re thrilled to have raised such a fantastic amount towards our chosen charity, the Alzheimer’s Society and want to say a huge ‘thank you’ to everyone who participated and donated.
“Every year we hold a fundraising event for one of our partner charities and this year we took part in a four mile walk along the picturesque Weston-super-Mare seafront.
“It was great to see lots of people from the community join us and show their support.
“We set off from Weston’s Marine Lake and walked a full circle back to the lake. The weather was on our side, making the event even more enjoyable.”
The Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia charity, tackling all aspects of dementia by giving help and hope to people living with dementia today and in the future.
The word 'dementia' describes a set of symptoms that over time can affect memory, problem-solving, language and behaviour.
Alzheimer's disease is the most common type of dementia.
There are currently more than 900,000 people in the UK living with dementia. It mainly affects people over the age of 65.
The likelihood of developing dementia increases significantly with age. One in 14 people aged over 65 has dementia. This rises to 1 in 6 for people aged over 80.
