A CAFÉ in a Weston-super-Mare park has reopened this morning.

The Clarence Park Café reopened today (Thursday, August 1).

In July, North Somerset Council confirmed The Victorian Café and Clarence Park Café, would be operated by The Food Hub.

The authority also said both cafes “should be open for business in time for the summer season”.

Mike Bell, councillor for the Weston Central ward, said: “Great news that The Clarence cafe will be open from 1 August.

“Takeaways initially and then the full opening as soon as the gas is sorted. Really superb to see this back open and adding to life in Clarence Park.

“Congratulations to the new concession holder - I wish them every success.”

Currently, The Clarence is open for take-aways and serves hot and cold drinks, ice creams, cakes, burgers.

Back in May, when the operator was found for both cafes, the council said The Food Hub will be investing in and improving the café as well as running it.

Councillor Mike Solomon, North Somerset Council’s executive member for culture and leisure who is responsible for seafronts, parks, and concessions, previously said: “Clarence Park Café is one of the community’s best-loved concessions in Weston-super-Mare, and there was fierce competition for this lease.”

Laurence Pratt, owner of The Food Hub, said: "We are delighted to have been awarded the lease for both The Clarence and The Victorian.

“During our time running the Bay Café at the Tropicana, we have gained a reputation for excellent customer care and outstanding food and look forward to continuing this at our two new establishments.

“We're looking forward to welcoming familiar faces and new customers to experience our culinary delights.”
